Frequently Asked Questions

When should I start eating Mommy’s Cookie Jar Cookies?

If you are worried about milk supply, you can definitely start eating these cookies on your delivery day. Of course they are also perfect for whenever you notice a dip in supply!

How many cookies should I eat a day?

Every breastfeeding mother is different, so you can consume as many or as few as you’re comfortable with. However, we recommend consuming 2 – 3 cookies on the first and second day, 2 cookies on the third and fourth day and 1 cookie per day going forward. Repeat during week two or whenever you feel that you need too!

How soon do they work?

I noticed a difference within a day of eating these cookies, and most moms see an increase within 2 or 3 days. We suggest giving it a week to see results, keeping in mind it also depends on how many you eat.

When should I eat my cookies to see the biggest impact?

We recommend eating them 3-5 hours before you’d like to see an increase. If you were looking for more production around 9am, have a cookie for an early breakfast around 5am. If you were looking for a greater supply before bedtime at 10pm, we recommend a cookie for a mini after-dinner dessert at 6pm. It takes a little bit of trial and error to figure out what time works best for you!

How do I store baked cookies?

You can store baked cookies at room temperature for 7-10 days in a sealed container or ziploc bag. You can also freeze what you don’t plan to eat right away for up to 6 months.

Are they safe for my children to eat?

Yes, absolutely! All of the ingredients in our cookies are safe for anyone to eat, including your husband and children. And you don’t have to worry about your husband starting to lactate if he steals a few.

Are they dairy-free?

Yes, unless otherwise specified as we do sometimes bake a limited edition dairy run for special occasions.

Are they kosher?

Yes, our cookies are baked in Apron Masters Kitchen and certified kosher pareve (made with dairy equipment).

Do the cookies contain fenugreek?

No, fenugreek is not an ingredient used in our cookies.

Do you offer discounts on your cookies?

Yes, occasionally we post exclusive offers on Instagram.

I ate several cookies and my milk increased too much, what should I do?

Try eating less cookies, as you may only need to eat one a day to increase your supply.

Is there breast milk in the cookies?

Believe it or not, we get this question a lot! And the answer is NO!! There is no actual breast milk in lactation cookies, just ingredients that are known to increase Mom’s milk supply.

What are the active ingredients that help increase Mom’s milk?

Our cookies contain what are called galactagogues which are ingredients that help promote milk production, namely, oatmeal, flaxseed, and brewer’s yeast.

Do lactation cookies make you gain weight?

Just like any food, it’s best to enjoy the cookies in moderation! Aside from weight gain, eating too much of anything can actually create gaps in your diet, which is why it’s important to eat a variety of foods.
